Info Post
This is an old story, but awesome:

Metallica frontman James Hetfield is rather proud his band's music was played at top volume to break down the resistance of Guantanamo detainees under interrogation. "It’s strong, it’s music that’s powerful,” he told an interviewer from a German TV network. “It represents something that they don’t like—maybe freedom, aggression—I don’t know. Freedom of speech."

But he added that he was also "kind of bummed about it" because of his belief that politics and music don't mix. Several American musicians opposed to the use of their music on Gitmo prisoners recently joined a call demanding that the federal government release documents on the practice.

Um, no, Newser, that sounds more like he is saying that the musicians should stay out of the debate.

Meanwhile, Christine O’Donnell made me think of an old Metallica song.  Her recent ad is entitled “I’m you” and like when the President said that bit about people talking about him “like a dog” it made me think of a song.  I finally remembered what the song was just a few minutes ago: “Sad But True:”

I’m your truth, telling lies
I’m your reasoned alibis
I’m inside open your eyes
I’m you
Sad but true

So she dabbled in witchcraft.  Is she also an ex-headbanger, too?  Maybe she will go the full goth chick route.

Joking aside, look, I want O’Donnell to beat the clean shaven Marxist Coons, but the ad left me underwhelmed.  Still I think Robert McCain makes a good argument for why might works anyway:

Forget the words. Just turn off the sound and look at it. The moment she flashes that first smile, the average person likes her. They can’t help it. It’s an autonomic response.

Yes, yes, Robert McCain said some pretty racist stuff in the past but that doesn’t make him wrong about everything, just anything related to race.

Ace of Spades makes a similar point:

She has a useful amount of sadness in her, of whippedness, that pushes the right emotional button. She was beaten up — hard not feel sympathetic for someone beaten up.

Anyway, McCain also is not sure if this will translate into votes.  I think on one hand that is a crap way to pick a senator, but that doesn’t make him wrong.

Update: Coons has a response on the web to her.  It is so divisive, I think only the die hards would like it.  The rest would be turned off, if they even find out.

So if you don't want a clean shaven marxist in congress, and you know anyone who lives in Delaware, let them know!
