Update (II): Ron Paul gains the support of the Westboro Baptist idjits. Jump to the end for the fun.
Update (III): Twitchy reportsthat Paul controls his own Twitter feed.
Update (IV): I made Fox News! See at the end of the article.
As you may know, over the weekend we lost a true American hero, Chris Kyle. I mean I might have doubted his story of decking Jesse Ventura, but there is no question that he has removed from this earth over 160 bad men who probably would have killed others if he had not intervened. As one man said remembering him:
"We have lost more than we can replace. Chris was a patriot, a great father, and a true supporter of this country and its ideals. This is a tragedy for all of us. I send my deepest prayers and thoughts to his wife and two children," Scott McEwen, co-author of "American Sniper," said in a statement to ABC News.
Remembering Kyle for the number of Iraqi insurgents he killed misstates his legacy, McEwen said.
"His legacy is not one of being the most lethal sniper in United States history," McEwen said. "In my opinion, his legacy is one of saving lives in a very difficult situation where Americans where going to be killed if he was not able to do his job."
Read the whole thing. Personally while I am not going to subscribe to any wild conspiracy, part of me is waiting for it to turn out that his shooter was an “American Taliban” type who wanted to score one for the other team. There is nothing I have read so far that backs that up, it’s just a hunch I have. Or maybe I just have difficulty processing that such a deadly American warrior could be taken out in such a stupid way, though obviously that is physically possible. So take that for what it is worth.
But unfortunately some people can’t just solemnly remember an American hero. Of course all weekend the gun control ghouls and anti-American types were out in force. They claim to value human life, but they seem to get pretty excited every time someone is killed with a gun.
As for gun-grabbers’ point it is actually kind of stupid. No one has ever said that a gun creates a magical force-field that protects you from being shot. No, the only thing a gun does is it gives you a fighting chance when someone comes after you or someone you would wish to protect.
But to a certain extent that is to be expected. It is less so when Ron Paul, a man who ran to be commander-in-chief, joins in:
Chris Kyle's death seems to confirm that "he who lives by the sword dies by the sword." Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn't make sense
— Ron Paul (@RonPaul) February 4, 2013
There is nothing wrong with figuring out how and why a murder took place and figuring out if there was something different could have been done. If it is verified that this was PTSD gun therapy, and it can be verified that this is what triggered it—something that the defense might assert, but is far from given—then maybe it will suggest that this shouldn’t be done. Or maybe we will actually study the issue and discover that of all methods of therapy, this kind is the least likely to cause a murderous outburst. But making this kind of determination is just called using your head.
But Ron Paul takes it a step further with his “he who lives by the sword” crap. What he is suggesting is that because Kyle served in the military he deserved to die. As one tweeter put it well, responding to Paul:
@ronpaul So all veterans, once done serving our nation with honor, deserve to be murdered as civilians? Wow.
— Razor (@hale_razor) February 4, 2013
Indeed, if you really want to soak in the sheer hypocrisy, watch this ad:
Got that? Ron Paul is a veteran’s best friend, sort of like how Brutus was Ceaser’s best friend. He loves them, sort of like OJ Simpson loved his wife Nicole Brown.
There is no word for it, but despicable.
As you might expect, Twitchy has more.
Update (II): Yes, a Westboro Baptist idjit leapt to the defense of Ron Paul, attacking myself and another person who was disgusted.
@aaronworthingresponded “What the Hell, @ronpaul? Are you actually blaming Chris Kyle for his own death?” Dear Aaron W: #ShutItSatan
— Shirley Phelps-Roper (@WBCShirl) February 4, 2013
God holds breath of life in HIS hands. GOD executed judgment on Christ Kyle. #BelieveGod@aaronworthing@ronpaul #ThouShaltNotKillChrisKyle
— Shirley Phelps-Roper (@WBCShirl) February 4, 2013
YES! All humans deserve it. #ThouShaltNotKilMTl @hale.razor wrote, “So all veterans, done serving our nation deserve death as civilians?”

I had my own response:
Wow I am being attacked by, and @ronpaul is being defended by a Westboro baptist schmuck @wbcshirl
— Aaron Worthing (@AaronWorthing) February 4, 2013
@aaronworthing@ronpaul @wbcshirl Wow! Really? I'm not sure if I'd be honored or offended! Can you be both? ATTACK OF THE FLYING MORONS!
— Matthew Mason (@slidellman4life) February 4, 2013
And then it occurred to me that this was my chance to tell off a Westboro Baptist idjit and so I did:
Hey remember when Jesus picketed the funerals of roman soldiers? @wbcshirl yeah, me neither.
— Aaron Worthing (@AaronWorthing) February 4, 2013
A real Christian is never cruel to grieving parents. A real christian leads w love and not hate. @wbcshirl
— Aaron Worthing (@AaronWorthing) February 4, 2013
But really, to be dissed by the Westboro types… it’s an honor.
Update (IV): As indicated above, I made an article on Fox News’ site! Cool beans!
Chris Kyle, 38, a decorated Iraq war veteran, a former SEAL and author of “American Sniper,” was shot and killed Saturday. Police arrested Eddie Ray Routh, 25, a veteran authorities say may have a mental illness related to his military service.
In response to the news, Paul tweeted: “Chris Kyle’s death seems to confirm that ‘he who lives by the sword dies by the sword.’ Treating PTSD at a firing range doesn’t make sense.”
The tweet set off a chain reaction of criticism online.
Aaron Worthing (@AaronWorthing) responded: “What the Hell, @RonPaul? Are you actually blaming Chris Kyle for his own death?”
Michelle Lancaster (@SkiGarmisch) added, “Very disrespectful commentary to this man, his memory and his family. Shame on you.”
Razor (@hale.razor) wrote, “So all veterans, once done serving our nation with honor, deserve to be murdered as civilians? Wow.”

My wife and I have lost our jobs due to the harassment of convicted terrorist Brett Kimberlin, including an attempt to get us killed and to frame me for a crime carrying a sentence of up to ten years. I know that claim sounds fantastic, but if you read starting here, you will see absolute proof of these claims using documentary and video evidence. If you would like to help in the fight to hold Mr. Kimberlin accountable, please hit the Blogger’s Defense Team button on the right. And thank you.

Disclaimer:
I have accused some people, particularly Brett Kimberlin, of reprehensible conduct. In some cases, the conduct is even criminal. In all cases, the only justice I want is through the appropriate legal process—such as the criminal justice system. I do not want to see vigilante violence against any person or any threat of such violence. This kind of conduct is not only morally wrong, but it is counter-productive.
In the particular case of Brett Kimberlin, I do not want you to even contact him. Do not call him. Do not write him a letter. Do not write him an email. Do not text-message him. Do not engage in any kind of directed communication. I say this in part because under Maryland law, that can quickly become harassment and I don’t want that to happen to him.
And for that matter, don’t go on his property. Don’t sneak around and try to photograph him. Frankly try not to even be within his field of vision. Your behavior could quickly cross the line into harassment in that way too (not to mention trespass and other concerns).
And do not contact his organizations, either. And most of all, leave his family alone.
The only exception to all that is that if you are reporting on this, there is of course nothing wrong with contacting him for things like his official response to any stories you might report. And even then if he tells you to stop contacting him, obey that request. That this is a key element in making out a harassment claim under Maryland law—that a person asks you to stop and you refuse.
And let me say something else. In my heart of hearts, I don’t believe that any person supporting me has done any of the above. But if any of you have, stop it, and if you haven’t don’t start.
